This is a mesmerising science experiment that will have little ones enthralled.
This super easy experiment shows the divide between oil and water creates a lava lamp effect when an effervescent tablet is added.
Ingredients
1/3 cup of water
2/3 cup inexpensive oil
few drops of food colouring
Alka seltzer or Berocca (fizzing multivitamin)
Add oil and water to a small jar or clear bottle. Allow oil and water to settle and gently add a few drops of food colouring which will settle between the oil and water.
Add an Alka Seltzer tablet to the mix and watch the magic happen.
Hot Tip: keep your lava lamp just out of reach to help reduce the risk of you, the kids, the table, chairs and floor being covered in oil when someone gets excited and thinks you are making a sensory bottle.
